Halvor Lines is hiring reefer drivers! Apply for one of our refrigerated trucking jobs online or contact a driver recruiter to learn about working for us. Apply now to work with our refrigerated division. It’s cool.

Why do Class A refrigerated truck drivers earn more than some other drivers?

Hauling refrigerated freight requires attention to detail. Truckers hauling refrigerated trailers learn how to set and monitor trailer temperatures to ensure goods remain at optimal temperatures during transport. Reefer drivers are responsible for making sure trailers remain clean, sanitary, and keep the cooling units fueled. Refrigerated trucking skills are required in addition to the skills required of all CDL truckers.

How much do refrigerated truck driving jobs pay?

Refrigerated truck driver salaries vary widely. Pay is based on the number of miles a driver chooses to drive each week and their base pay rates. Income opportunities increase if an employer offers additional bonuses or incentive programs. Top drivers typically earn $81,000 a year on average.

Is Halvor Lines one of the largest refrigerated trucking companies?

Halvor Lines employs more than 500 truck drivers and contracts with more than 100 owner-operator drivers. We are large enough to offer the amenities you will find at a much larger trucking company while maintaining the personal touches of a smaller operation.

Some of the largest food and beverage companies in the U.S. trust their shipments to Halvor Lines. We may not be the biggest refrigerated trucking company, though we believe our customers would tell you we are one of the best.

Does refrigerated driving involve heavy physical work?

At Halvor Lines, our refrigerated division focuses on no-touch freight. This means shippers and receivers handle the loading and unloading of refrigerated products. The refrigerated trucking division is great for CDL holders looking for a lighter-duty driving career.

Do refrigerated truck drivers have special duties and responsibilities?

Yes. Drivers are responsible for setting and monitoring trailer temperatures and cleaning trailers between loads. Reefer drivers ensure that the people who unload the trailers receive payment for their services. Drivers pay using company checks or through electronic payments between the trucking company and the workers.
