Halvor earns EPA Smartway award
For the third year running, Halvor Lines, Inc., has received a SmartWay Excellence Award from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
The award recognizes shippers, logistics companies and carriers that optimize the environmental performance and efficiency of their freight operations. The honor is given to the top 1 to 2 percent of companies participating in the program. This year, Halvor was among the 40 truck carriers honored.
The EPA’s SmartWay program exists to demonstrate how businesses in our crucial economic sector can save on fuel costs, shrink their emissions footprints and contribute to healthier air in the communities they serve.
The SmartWay award recognizes carriers that are moving goods efficiently, with the lowest levels of carbon dioxide, particulate matter and nitrogen oxide emissions reported among all SmartWay partners. Award winners include
companies that operate one or more of 15 fleet types, including the three Halvor specializes in: reefer, flatbed and van.
Carriers earning a SmartWay award achieved a superior level of environmental performance and the highest level of efficiency within SmartWay by demonstrating that they carry more goods per ton-mile, using less fuel and emitting fewer greenhouse gas and air pollutant emissions.
Put simply, we’ve demonstrated that it is possible to move more goods with less fuel — something that’s good for business and the air we all breathe.
