Trucking Company Shows Commitment to Drivers with Awards, Wellness Fair and Car Show
SUPERIOR, WISC.—At Halvor Lines, taking care of drivers’ health, safety, and happiness isn’t just a nice thing to do; it’s part of the business. The Superior, WI-based trucking and logistics company is named a “Best Fleet to Drive For” year after year. Its commitment to recognizing and rewarding drivers whenever possible is a priority, which is why Halvor Lines is going all out to celebrate Driver Appreciation Week.
A nationally celebrated event, Driver Appreciation Week is a chance for the trucking and logistics industry to recognize the people who make it all possible. Halvor Lines will celebrate with breakfast and lunch all week for drivers, a unique competition called driver olympics, a wellness fair, and even a car show on Friday.
“We strive to be the nicest people in trucking, so Driver Appreciation Week is a huge event for us,” said Debbie Landry, director of driver services at Halvor Lines. “We want our drivers to be healthy, happy, and safe year-round, but we really celebrate it this week.”
Starting this week, Halvor Lines will recognize those entering the Million Miles Club, or drivers who have reached one million, two million, three million, or four million miles with the company. It would take about eight years to reach one million miles, so earning this award shows incredible dedication.
“Drivers who reach this impressive milestone are presented with a trophy and decals for their trucks from our CEO, Jon Vinje, or vice president, Ryan Fraley,” Landry said. “We’re exceptionally proud of the drivers earning this award.”
The wellness fair on Thursday includes a 5K race in Superior, WI, wellness-related vendors on-site, and a blood drive. Staying healthy on the road can be a challenge, but Halvor promotes wellness with complimentary fruit in the office and exercise equipment. The company’s trucks have refrigerators so drivers can prepare their own food before leaving instead of relying on fast food. Part of recognizing drivers this week is about commending their commitment to health and wellness.
Both the car show on Friday and the driver olympics are opportunities for drivers to engage in friendly competition and camaraderie. Any driver or family member is invited to bring in a vehicle to display for the car show. For the driver olympics, Halvor employees can compete in different physical events that relate to trucking. These events give drivers a chance to interact with each other in a fun, relaxed setting.
